Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has announced plans to establish a bullfighting premier league from next year (2026).

Speaking at Solyo Grounds, Shinyalu Constituency during the Second Edition of the Governor's Bullfighting Extravaganza, Governor Barasa said the winner of the league will be awarded Sh200,000.

The governor said that the league will bring together top bulls from all 12 sub-counties in Kakamega as part of the county's broader strategy to promote local culture and grow the sports tourism sector.

He noted that the initiative will support various economic sectors, including hospitality, transport and entertainment, while preserving the unique cultural identity of the region.
