A poultry processing farm in Naivasha has been directed to stop dumping untreated water waste in the environment by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) or face consequences.

In a statement on Wednesday, April 23, NEMA announced that the facility had been discharging this waste without an Effluent Discharge Licence (EDL).

The facility was thus ordered to stop further discharge of the waste and put in place measures to contain all solid waste generated by the facility within seven days.

At the site, the NEMA officers observed poor management of solid waste manure from the processing factory and the absence of an Environmental Impact  Assessment (EIA) or Environmental Audit (EA).  NEMA offices in Nairobi, Kenya.
