The Ministry of Education has announced the recruitment of serving teachers for a two-year full-time Special Needs Education (SNE) Diploma course at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) beginning in 2025. The programme targets current Teachers Service Commission (TSC) employees who wish to specialise in teaching learners with disabilities.
In a statement, the ministry called on eligible teachers to apply for the in-service course, with specialisations available in areas such as visual, physical, and hearing impairments; intellectual disabilities; autism; and deafblind education. Interested teachers in the intake have been advised to obtain the application forms from the ministry's website or visit their county and sub-county education offices. Further, after filling out the application forms, the county education offices will be required to submit them to the ministry's headquarters in Nairobi. ''Duly completed application forms must be submitted personally by the applicant to the SCDE by May 9, 2025.
All applications shall be remitted by the office of the SCDE to Jogoo House B, Room 710,618/19, latest May 16, 2025.'' Applicants must be Kenyan citizens under the age of 50, possess a P1 certificate, and have at least five years of service as TSC teachers.
