The National Assembly Committee on Administration and National Security, chaired by Lari MP Mburu Kahangara, has assured Migori residents that the stalled Migori headquarters building will be completed to serve the public.
Mburu said that it was sad for government officials to hire offices, yet the government has used a lot of resources to set up the construction of the giant three-story office block, which had been delayed for over 15 years.
He disclosed that more than Sh500 million has already been pumped into the project, which remains stalled and unoccupied.
The committee, which toured the building to assess its structural integrity, said that it will be unfair to abandon it, yet a lot of taxpayer money has been utilised to establish the building. "As a committee, we will be writing a report and recommendations for money to be allocated in the 2025/2026 budget to complete the project to serve the county residents," said Mburu.
