Kenyan veteran marathoner Eliud Kipchoge had a bittersweet end to possibly his last major race, finishing sixth place in the highly anticipated London Marathon on Sunday, April 27. Kipchoge, despite being 40 years old and in the twilight days of his career, beat some formidable names in a marathon dominated by his Kenyan counterpart Sebastian Sawe, who won the marathon with an impressive world lead of 2:02:28 in his second 42Km marathon ever.
The legendary Kipchoge kept up with the lead pack for a large portion of the race.
However, in the final stages, the younger runners pulled away as the pace intensified.
More than 56,000 participants took part in this year's London Marathon, one of the biggest fields in the event's history.
