Five Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Mbeere South Constituency, Embu, have declared their intention to rally behind one of their own for the constituency's parliamentary seat in 2027.
They argued that this time round they want to have a homegrown leader to take over the seat as he is well versed with the challenges facing the constituency including marginalization in terms of government resources sharing.
They asserted that it was time for local leadership to rise from the grassroots and challenge long-standing political dominance in the area.
The seat is currently being occupied by Engineer Nebat Muriuki who they accused of bias in allocation of the NG-CDF funds under his purview. "We want the County Assembly not just to be a legislative body, but an incubation ground for the next generation of national leaders," said Kiambere MCA Lenny Masters.
