Preparations for the Madaraka Day celebrations are underway at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County.

Scheduled for June 1, the stadium is undergoing complete rehabilitation and will be completed on May 15.

Speaking on Tuesday, April 29, Internal Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo announced the progress during his inspection tour, stating: "The stadium will be ready for handover on May 15, and we have confirmation from the contractors." "The remaining tasks include finishing the canopy and adjacent amenities, which will be completed within one to two weeks." Omollo, accompanied by Governor Gladys Wanga and other leaders, also evaluated the progress at Homa Bay airstrip.  He noted that the runway extension and apron will be ready by May 17 to support logistical needs for the celebration.

In addition, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA), Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), and Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) are currently upgrading roads in the area.
