The government has announced plans to transform the country's railway sector through the implementation of new technology to modernise and enhance transport in Kenya.

The announcement follows the signing of seven agreements between Kenya and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

According to a public statement released by the State House on Thursday evening, the agreement touched on several issues, including the transport sector with particular focus on the rail transport.

In the agreements, Kenya Railways Corporation and Etihad Rail Company formalised a partnership to advance Kenya's railway sector, focusing on knowledge sharing.
