Tourism and Wildlife CS Rebecca Miano has called for classification of arid parts of Ndaragwa constituency in Nyandarua County as hardship areas during current revision of zones in that status.
Miano pointed out that when she was CS for Arid and Semi-Arid, she used to support for some parts of Ndaragwa to be classified as arid and semi-arid and hardship.
For a long time, there has been push for Ndaragwa areas that are arid and semi-arid to be classified as hardship zone to stop teachers and other civil servants from migrating to neighouring Laikipia County to benefit from hardship allowances.
The call is due to large part of Nyandarua North sub county has climatically conditions similar to neighboring areas in Laikipia County where government employees enjoy hardship allowances.
