In a bid to conserve the environment and combat climate change, the Principal Secretary for Correctional Services Dr.
Salome Beacco led staff from the department in planting over 2,000 trees at the Kajiado G.K Prisons.
Speaking during the planting exercise, Dr.
Beacco remarked that as a department, they will be having the tree planting exercise concurrently across all the correctional facilities every first Thursday of the month under the Greening Kenya Initiative in line with the President's national agenda for landscape restoration. "The department remains committed in leading the National Landscape and Ecosystem Restoration Program, to cultivate 100 million trees annually.
