Several residents of Simbi Kogembo village and nearby areas in central Karachuonyo, Homa Bay County, have been forced to leave their homes after River Awach Kibuon burst its banks, causing severe flooding.

According to the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), the flooding, which happened early Tuesday, May 13, has displaced over 200 households.

The affected families are currently being moved to the Simbi Dispensary for safety. "This morning, River Kibuon in Central Karachuonyo, Homa Bay County, burst its banks, flooding Simbi Kogembo village and surrounding areas.

Evacuation efforts are currently underway, with more than 200 households being relocated to Simbi Dispensary," KRCS said.
