The Turkana Professionals Association (TPA) has urged the national government to launch a military operation in the county to curb militia attacks in the county.

The plea comes after several fishermen were shot and killed in the Todonyang area on Thursday, May 15.

In a press briefing on Sunday, May 18, a representative of the association said that the residents of the county have been experiencing recurrent militia attacks, which have claimed lives and led to loss of property, and intervention from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) is needed.

Through the operation, the TPA representative pointed out that the military should also weed out illegal immigrants, who he claims are the root cause of the attacks.
