A middle-aged man has been jailed for 20 years by a Kabarnet court for defiling his 15-year-old niece.
Collins Kipkemboi was charged that on unspecified date within the month of October 2024 at Chesamach forest, Kilingot village of Ossen location in Baringo North, he unlawfully committed an indecent act with a child, contrary to section 11(1) of the Sexual Offences Act. 3 of 2006 When arraigned before Senior Resident Magistrate (SRM) Edwin Mulochi the accused denied committing the offence.
The victim told the court that, on the fateful day the uncle requested her to accompany him to a nearby Chesamach forest to gather firewood and she agreed. "When we reached the forest, he grabbed my hand and pushed me to the ground and defiled me," narrated the victim to the court.
The complainant said that the accused warned her that he would end her life if she dared to tell anyone about the incident.
