The family of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has reportedly denied police access to interview him over his recent claims of abduction.

According to a statement by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, efforts by investigators to question the MP have been frustrated by his family, despite ongoing investigations into the circumstances surrounding his alleged abduction. "To date, the investigation team has interviewed and recorded statements from five individuals, with several more expected to provide their accounts," Kanja noted.

At the same time, Kanja revealed that Koimburi had evaded arrest on Friday, May 23, 2025, in connection with a land fraud case.  This came after the Director of Public Prosecutions granted consent for the MP's prosecution. "He escaped arrest by fleeing on a motorcycle alongside his private security detail and subsequently switched off his mobile phone.

His driver was apprehended but later released after giving a statement," the police chief added.
