The Embu County Assembly is set to kickstart the impeachment process of Finance and Economic Planning County Executive Committee Member Joe Kamaria over incompetence.
According to members of the Embu County Assembly, Speaker Josiah Murithi stated during a session on Thursday, June 19, that the CEC has failed to effectively deliver on his mandate, including failing to table his department's budget implementation reports to the county assembly and failing to appear before the assembly after being summoned.
According to the county lawmakers, the CEC's failure to submit full reports from his department has undermined the county assembly's ability to formulate solid and accurate budget estimates. "This assembly recommends appropriate actions to be taken against Kamaria, in accordance with the provisions of Section 22(3) of the County Assemblies Powers and Privileges Act 2017, and Section 40 of the County Government Act," the speaker said.
