Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu received global recognition after she was named a Knight of the Royal Maharlika during an international summit held in the United States this week.
The colourful event took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the prestigious We Care for Humanity Royal Summit, where leaders from across the world gathered to celebrate individuals making a difference in their communities.
Nyamu was conferred the knighthood by Queen Mariam Leonor Torres Mastura, the royal of the Royal Sultanate of Magindanaw, a sovereign monarchy based in the southern Philippines.
The Queen also holds the title of Queen of Maharlika, a royal order that acknowledges people who are actively working to protect the planet and promote peace and positive change in society.
