Nyamira residents have been urged to adopt mediation as a way to solve conflicts that arise now and again within the community instead of rushing disputes to courts.

Nyamira County Commissioner Eratus Mbui, while addressing residents gathered at Rangenyo Primary School grounds to mark the 62nd Madaraka Day, said that there are numerous cases before Nyamira and Keroka law courts taking ages to be determined when they could have been amicably solved in the shortest time possible through mediation. "We must be proactive in resolving our conflicts and disputes by using our readily available professional mediators, clan elders, the clergy, and knowledgeable people at the family level before we rush to the courts to report our misunderstandings, yet we have systems which can help. "Most cooperative societies here in Nyamira are involved in leadership wrangles and have no time to serve their members especially members involved in farming of cash crops, such that farmers can neither sell their cash crops nor access finances to boost their farming and meet other family financial needs.

This is detrimental to the sustainability of these cooperatives and a serious economic loss to its dependents due to endless court cases to solve the leadership wrangles," stated the County Commissioner.

He confirmed that construction of chiefs' offices in Monga Charachani and Bogichora in Nyamira South Sub County is complete and only waiting for authorization to advertise posts for assistant chiefs in those sub locations so that residents can readily access government services in those areas. "Most government-funded projects are ongoing, such as the construction of roads, infrastructure projects in 62 schools' courtesy of Kuwait funding, the construction of an aggregation and industrial park, and the construction of modern markets in various areas in this county, amongst many others.
