Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Gideon Oyagi has cautioned against rising political temperatures in the country and urged leaders to be ambassadors of peace and unity.

Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrations at Lessos Primary School in Kwanza Sub County, Oyagi cautioned against divisive politics, saying it puts the country at risk of eroding the gains made since independence. "Trans Nzoia is a small Kenya where all tribes have lived together as a family since independence.

It worries me to see political leaders who should be preaching peace and encouraging us to live together differ before the very people they lead. Let us differ on ideologies but walk together on the path of peace and unity, " he challenged.

Challenging the increasing cases of land grabbing and disputes in the region, Oyagi said the government will do everything to protect public and private property as he promised to ensure the law is adhered to.
