Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire was conspicuously missing from a high-profile meeting when President William Ruto hosted governors and Cabinet Secretaries at State House, Nairobi, on Wednesday, pointing to deepening internal conflicts within UDA.

Mbarire's absence at the meeting that was also attended by Principal Secretaries raised eyebrows, especially after the governor, who is also the ruling UDA national chairperson, accused unnamed government officials of fighting her.

The President meant to use the meeting to get progress reports from the counties and government ministries.  Mbarire was expected to attend the meeting, not just in her capacity as the chairperson of President Ruto's party, but more so, as a governor.
