Andiwo Obondo Foundation has donated soccer kits worth Sh. 300,000 to twenty-two comprehensive schools in Bondo Sub-County, Siaya County, to support the nurturing of sports talents in schools.
Speaking during the donation of the uniforms at Gobei comprehensive school, the Foundation Director Thomas Andiwo disclosed that so far 60 schools and 25 community clubs in the region have benefitted from the initiative.
Mr Andiwo said that besides other initiatives like bursaries, bicycle programmes for schools and environmental conservation, the foundation engages in supporting the nurturing of talents, which is an integral part of the government's Competency-Based Education (CBE).
He observed that the provision of sporting kits to both schools and community clubs goes a long way in not only making the students take sports seriously but also giving them the confidence to do better and succeed in sports.
