Youth from vulnerable families in Samburu County have been encouraged to apply for the Climate Resilience Service Program (CRSP), popularly known as 'kazi mtaani', which will run for six months.
Speaking after forming the County Implementation Committee (CIC), Samburu County Commissioner (CC) John Cheruiyot noted that the programme is set to benefit 677 youth and 23 supervisors across the three sub-counties for a period of six months.
He said that apart from creating employment, the labour-intensive programme aims at promoting patriotism among the youth with duties ranging from road repair, tree planting, housing and opening up of security roads. "The government is targeting youth between 18 and 29 years and up to 35 years for those living with disabilities.
The pay will be Sh500 per day and Sh580 for supervisors." He said.
