The Ministry of Defence has announced that Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops will be deployed in Siaya County to oversee two critical infrastructure projects.
In a statement, the Defence Cabinet Secretary, Soipan Tuya, said that the military will spearhead the construction of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium and the modernisation of the Siaya Level 5 Hospital.
According to Tuya, the deployment of the troops to oversee the construction of the two facilities will not only boost the county's infrastructural capacity but will also reinforce Siaya's security.
The decision was made after the CS met with a delegation from Siaya County, led by Siaya Governor James Orengo and the Siaya County Executive Committee Member for Tourism, Culture, Sports and the Arts, Angeline Oduor, on Wednesday, June 11.
