International Justice Mission (IJM) Kenya has condemned the killing of 17-year-old mother of one Farida Kadzo, who was fatally attacked on the evening of Friday, June 6th, 2025, in Madina, Kilifi County.
Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Senior Manager Aggrey Juma, addressing the media in Mombasa, said the family of the deceased is deeply saddened by the tragic death, terming it as senseless and untimely. Kadzo, who had previously survived a defilement case in 2021 and was receiving support through the justice system, was reportedly stabbed by her alleged boyfriend after declining to accompany him to a family event. "She succumbed to the injuries shortly after returning home, and the matter was immediately reported to the police, and investigations are ongoing," said Juma Juma noted that the slow pace in the justice system in the case of Kadzo's predicament reflects the broader pattern of violence against women, broken systems, gender inequality, and weak enforcement mechanisms.
He urged the criminal justice system to act swiftly and diligently in investigating and prosecuting the offence.
He further called on the public to stand in solidarity with survivors and demand accountability and systemic change. "Kadzo's life mattered.
