Eight hundred and twenty-two jobless youths in Nyamira County will be recruited to benefit from the transformative climate work 2025 initiative, popularly dubbed kazi mtaani.

Nyamira County commissioner Erastus Mbui, while launching the county technical implementation committee to supervise the implementation of the programme confirmed that the government is committed in tackling joblessness among the youth in this country and cushioning them from dire economic vulnerability. "This opportunity for jobless youths to work and earn is timely because most of our youths are struggling to survive and make ends meet through tough economic constraints, a crisis which has struck many in the entire country," he county commissioner said.

He highlighted that apart from allowing youths to be empowered and earn a living, the programme will equally impact our communities through improving the quality of our roads and improving the environment through seedling tubings for tree planting and road beautification and mitigating the effects of climate change. "The programme was started in 2024 where it was being carried out in Nairobi to clean the Nairobi River.

The government is now officially rolling out this programme across the whole country, where over 110,000 youths will be recruited.
