The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) has warned the public against a College in Mogotio Town in Baringo County, which is offering unauthorised nursing courses.

In a public notice on Wednesday, June 18, NCK claimed that the college, which has one branch, has been advertising and purporting to offer Nurse Aid, Nursing Assistant, and Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), which are not recognised by the council. "It has come to our attention that African International Technical College is advertising and purporting to offer a nursing-related course without the necessary approval from the NCK," it stated. "Any course offered without the NCK's approval is not recognised and does not meet the required standards of training and professional practice.NCK wishes to further notify the entire public that Nurse Aid, Nursing Assistant, and Certified  Nurse Assistant (CNA) training are not recognised programmes by the  Nursing Council of Kenya," it added.

A photo of Kenyan nurses dancing Photo Nursing Council of Kenya According to the NCK, anyone caught conducting unauthorised nursing training risks a fine not exceeding Ksh500,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or both.

On the other hand, the Council has urged the public to verify the accreditation status of any nursing institution before enrolling in any nursing or midwifery programme.
