Petrol stations across Kenya will begin using a mandatory electronic fuel station system, which will enable real-time invoicing.

According to a statement on June  27, the Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA) stated that the rollout of its Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS) for petrol stations across the country will enable the real-time seamless invoicing for every sale. "The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is implementing the eTIMS Fuel Station System, which is an eTIMS solution for the fuel sector that enables real-time seamless invoicing for every sale, integrating with KRA through a forecourt controller and existing point of sale," the statement reads in part.

The authority informed petroleum product retailers of the mandatory requirements to implement the eTIMS fuel station system across all their outlets by June 30, 2025.
