A public uproar has erupted after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported the recovery of an AK-47 rifle stolen from the Dagoretti Police Station during the June 25 protests.
In its report, DCI claimed that officers from the Kabete Police Station received a tip-off about a suspicious individual carrying a bulging bag at a bar in the Gahui area.
Without delving into the details of the steps that followed, DCI claimed that the officers applied forensic leads and identified the suspect.
This identification reportedly led the officers to the suspect's residence in the Njuki-Kirigu area to arrest him, but he "vanished without a trace." Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations manning the agency's main entrance in Nairobi.
