Kakamega business slow, security tight on Saba Saba There was an uneasy calm in Kakamega town as residents went on with their businesses amidst a limited number of people accessing the Central business District (CBD), fearing being caught in the Saba Saba protests.
While many businesses opened in the morning hours, they remained on the watch out as police thwarted any attempts by the protesters to gather within the CBD.
Anti-riot police manned all the strategic routes, particularly along major roads leading to Kisumu, Kitale, Bungoma and Busia counties and key businesses like supermarkets and banks.
Some protesters could be seen trying to whip up public support but could not manage to gather enough support to mount any major protest.
