The Nyanza Region Scouts Association has vowed to support the government agenda of planting 15 billion trees by 2032 to increase the forest cover in the country to 30 percent.
Speaking during the closure of the Nyanza Regional Scouts Competition held in Kubweye Secondary School in Kuria West Sub County, themed 'Resilience towards climate change', Nyanza Region Scouts Commissioner Elly Kisulu said that scouting will continue to play a major role towards achieving the 15 billion tree planting exercise.
Kisilu also added that scouting is a practical venture that helps learners to actualise their theoretical skills, that incorporates collaboration, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving abilities.
He disclosed that scouting is a discipline that trains students to respect authority, a core value that promotes servant leadership to students as they prepare to become future leaders.
