National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of sponsoring violence during the recent protests, including an alleged attempt to torch his home and that of his elderly parents in Kikuyu.

Taking to a lengthy statement, Ichung'wah alleged that he has been avoiding answering Gachagua's latest allegations but has been pushed to respond following the extent of the violence.

In the statement dated Wednesday, July 9, Ichung'wah dismissed Gachagua's claims that the government had staged attacks on public buildings to frame opposition allies, terming the allegations as 'pure madness'.

He accused the former DP of fueling chaos to protect his political associates who were allegedly caught on camera committing criminal acts.
