Three municipalities in Makueni County are set for major transformation in sustainable urban development after they secured Sh40 million to develop key by laws to enhance service delivery.
The three municipalities including Wote, Emali Sultan Hamud and Mbooni-Kee will receive the funding through the Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED) programme.
The monies will go towards helping the three municipalities draft bylaws aimed at strengthening their autonomy, improving service delivery and also attracting investments with a view to creating jobs.
The proposed bylaws will include land use and control, agricultural produce aggregation, trade promotion and regulation, waste management, animal health and urban livestock management, and environmental management.
