The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a four-month closure of a section of the Mwingi-Ukasi (A3) Road in Kitui County, a move set to cause major traffic disruptions for motorists.
The closure is meant to allow essential works on the road. Effective from Monday, July 28, 2025, the affected section at 39+400 (Kwa-Vii area) will be fully inaccessible to traffic.
The closure is projected to last until Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
According to KeNHA, the temporary shutdown is necessary to facilitate maintenance on the road and the construction of a new box culvert at the Kwa-Vii site. "The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that Mwingi - Ukasi (A3) Road shall be fully closed at KM 39+400 (Kwa-Vii) from Monday, July 28, 2025, to Wednesday, November 12, 2025," the notice reads.
