Siaya Governor James Orengo has demanded a swift and thorough investigation into the death of Felix Isaac Olwero, a former Siaya County Assembly Clerk. Olwero was allegedly shot and killed by police outside his Whitehouse Resort in Seme, Kisumu County, in the early hours of Monday, August 18, in a suspected case of mistaken identity.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 1am.
According to a police report filed at Kombewa Police Station, officers on patrol were responding to a distress call about an attempted break-in at the establishment owned by the former assembly clerk. Police stated that during the response, one officer opened fire and fatally shot a man wielding a machete.
The man was later identified as Olwero.
