Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has made two new appointments to the National Council for Nomadic Education in Kenya (NACONEK), weeks after it was earmarked for dissolution by the Cabinet.

In a notice issued in the Kenya Gazette on February 14, Ogamba appointed two members to the council to serve for a period of three years, effective immediately. "In exercise of the powers conferred by section 94(1), as read together with paragraph 2(1) of the Sixth Schedule of the Basic Education Act, 2013, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints-Under paragraph (i)-Yussuf Abdullahi Mohammed and Rosemary Talaso to be members of the National Council for Nomadic Education in Kenya, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 14th February 2025." This follows a Cabinet meeting on January 21, where the executive recommended merging 42 state corporations into 20 and dissolving nine others.
