The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior, Kipchumba Murkomen, has announced evacuations for residents in certain parts of the country amid heavy rains to ensure their safety.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 10, the ministry called for heightened safety measures and preparedness as various regions continued to experience heavy rainfall. "The heightened risk of flooding in multiple counties due to heavy rainfall calls for increased safety measures and preparedness," part of the statement reads.
Murkomen warned residents living along the edges of rivers, streams, lakes, and other water bodies to evacuate, noting that these areas are prone to flooding during heavy rainfall seasons.
