Thousands of refugees in Daadab camp have appealed to both the National and Garissa County governments to supply them with food, lamenting that they were starving.
The refugees decried that despite being in the middle Ramadhan period, they could not even afford morning food before fasting (Suhur), or even water to drink, as well as evening food (Iftar), thus appealed to their leaders to act swiftly before things get worse. "We appeal to Garissa Governor Nathif Jama, Senator Abdul Mohamed Haji and United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) to act swiftly and alleviate the suffering of Muslims within Daadab refugee camp in Garissa County,'' said Sheikh Farah, adding the most vulnerable were expectant mothers, the disabled and orphans.
They also urged other leaders from the region including MPs, area Women Rep and Environment, Climate change and Forestry Cs Aden Duale as well as UN humanitarian agencies to come to their aid.
Efforts to contact area National Government representatives and officers in charge of the refugees failed as calls to their cell phones went unanswered.
