The Kenya Meteorological Department has cautioned Kenyans to brace for moderate to heavy downpours over the weekend, from Friday, March 14 to Tuesday, March 17.
In its weekend advisory published on Thursday, March 13, the weather department announced that moderate to heavy rains were expected in the Highland East counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Nairobi.
Kenya Met noted that the aforementioned counties would experience moderate rains for the first two days of the forecast, while heavy rains were projected for the remainder of the period.
The counties in the Highland West and Lake Victoria basin, including Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, and Elgeyo-Marakwet, were also predicted to receive heavy rains beginning Saturday, March 15.
