Impeached Governor Kawira Mwangaza now says she will lead the Meru people in seeking political and socio-economic freedom.
Mwangaza on Wednesday said although impeached, she will from next week embark on grassroots rallies with a view of sensitizing the community on the need to have a fresh crop of leaders come 2027. "We will do public participation in every ward, for people to select the people they want as leaders.
Those who think they have silenced me should know that they have given me a microphone and empowered me to resist bad leadership," she said. "We must get political, socio-economic freedom in this county," she said.
Mwangaza lost her bid to overturn her impeachment at the High Court, and her deputy, Isaac Mutum, was sworn in on Monday as the governor.
