Airtel Kenya is fast gaining ground with the most recent report by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) highlighting positive growth of the telecommunications' GSM Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMS) network and Airtel Money market share.  As per CA, the total number of SIM subscriptions in the country is 71,375,093, with a penetration rate of 138.5 per cent.

Of this number, Airtel has a total of 21,517,842 subscribers, translating to a market share of 30.15 per cent.

During the third quarter of 2024 between July and September, Airtel experienced a growth in the number of subscribers by 777,284 which is 3.75 per cent to 20,740,558 subscribers.

In terms of mobile money, Kenya has continued to experience a high rate of adoption of mobile money with a total subscriber base of 42,302,833 between October and December 2024.  Of this number, Airtel Money has a market share of 8.9 per cent, translating to 3,764,952 customers.
