The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans to brace for heavy downpours in several parts of the country between Friday, March 21 and Tuesday, March 25.

Kenya Met in its weekend rainfall advisory published on Friday, March 21, warned Kenyans living in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-Eastern lowlands and North-Eastern Kenya to prepare for heavy rains.

Highland East counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi were among the areas projected to experience heavy rains.

According to the meteorological department, rains in the aforementioned counties would begin particularly in the afternoon with the downpour expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms.
