Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has alleged that there are plans by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) officers to arrest him.

Addressing members of the public on Thursday, March 27, the former University of Nairobi (UoN) student leader said he received reports that EACC detectives were planning to raid his office at Donholm in Nairobi either this week or next week.

The vocal legislator noted that he was informed by credible sources that a meeting involving high-profile government officials was held last week to plot the arrest and coerce him to join the current administration.  According to Owino, the well-orchestrated scheme was also aimed at bringing him down politically and tainting his growing reputation as the most preferred politician in Kenya.

"I was reliably informed by very serious sources that this week, EACC detectives were to come at our offices in Donholm, if not this week, then next week, they are to come and arrest me," he said. "Their intention is very clear, that we need to put Babu down and tell people there are corruption allegations in Embakasi East," the legislator added.
