The National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has directed the Committee on Appointments to begin the approval hearing process for President William Ruto's new nominees.

On April 1, Speaker Wetangula issued a notice providing directives after receiving a communication from the President seeking approval for nominations to various state and diplomatic positions. "In this regard, the committee on appointments is expected to immediately commence the approval hearing and report back to the house by Thursday, April 24, 2025, to allow consideration by the House within the statutory timeline," stated Wetangula.

This follows the president's recent appointments, where he nominated 14 individuals for positions as principal secretaries and made four appointments for ambassadors, permanent representatives, and consul general.

The committee is expected to table its report before the parliament before Tuesday, April 22, 2025. "The committee to which such nomination is referred shall consider the matter and table a report in the house within 28 days," Wetangula added.
