At least four people, including three pupils, have been confirmed dead following a road accident in the Kibuon area of Nyakach, along the Sondu-Katito highway.
Reports indicate that the accident, which occurred on Wednesday morning, took place after a 14-seater matatu lost control and rammed into an oncoming truck that was ferrying sugarcane.
However, the residents, who were on high alert, quickly rushed to the scene and began retrieving those trapped under the wreckage before they were rushed to the Nyabondo Hospital.
During the accident, several people were injured, including pupils from Ober Boys Primary School, who were heading to school when the matatu collided with the truck.
