Several students sustained injuries on Friday morning after a 14-seater matatu they were travelling in got involved in an accident at Witeithie, Kiambu County.
According to witnesses, the learners believed to be from Mugoiri Girls High School were travelling home for their April holidays when the matatu lost control and veered off the road before landing in a ditch.
However, the area residents who saw the incident rushed to the scene and helped retrieve the injured learners from the wreckage before rushing them to the hospital.
While the exact number of learners who got involved in the accident is yet to be established, there are no death reports from the early morning incident.
