Tension ensued on Monday at the Egerton University main campus in Nakuru County after students staged demonstrations over security issues within the campus.
According to reports, the night demonstrations began after a female student was allegedly attacked by unknown individuals inside the school hostel.
The reports further indicated that the victim sustained critical injuries to her head and limbs, allegedly inflicted by what witnesses claimed could be a machete.
The incident sparked outrage among the university students, who immediately began protesting outside the institution's gate, demanding the school administration's intervention in the matter.
