The National Authority for the Campaign against Drug Abuse (NACADA) has sensitized Boda boda operators in Busia County on the negative effects of drug and substance abuse.
Speaking during the sensitisation that brought together more than 300 boda boda riders across the county in Busia town on Tuesday, Busia County NACADA Coordinator Zeka Wekesa said a number of boda boda operators have been victims of alcohol and drug abuse due to their exposure.
We have also cautioned them against being used to transport drugs and illicit brew,' he said, adding that a number of the operators use drugs while at work, hence increased cases of road accidents.
He encouraged the operators to embrace positive parenting in order to protect children from drug abuse.
