Gathunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has revealed that more than 2,000 students have been suspended from the National Education Management Information System (NEMIS).
In a statement on Wednesday, April 9, she revealed that 311 secondary school students and over 1,700 primary school pupils are missing out on government capitation and books in her Githunguri constituency because they are not registered on NEMIS.
NEMIS is a digital platform developed by the Ministry of Education to collect, manage, and analyse data about education across the country.
In capitation management, NEMIS helps the government allocate funding to schools based on the number of students registered. Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba during a meeting at his office in Nairobi on March 4, 2025.
