Former UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala has been released from detention after being held for more than 10 hours at Nakuru Central and Eldama Ravine Police Stations.
Malala, who was apprehended by heavily armed police officers from the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday at 11pm, was released some minutes after 11am on Thursday. He was arrested outside Kirobon Girls Secondary School, where Butere Girls High School students were rehearsing for the play "Echoes of War." Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Malala's cousin Harry Isiche confirmed that he was released without any charges being preferred against him.
Malala was, however, interrogated shortly at Nakuru Central Police Station before being released.
It was not immediately clear why and on what subjects he was being interrogated after the dramatic arrest. ''He has been released; that is all we have at the moment.
