The DCI is seeking seven-day custodial orders for a teacher accused of impersonating President William Ruto's daughter on Facebook.
In an affidavit sworn by Police Constable Peter Mwangi, the DCI requested a week to continue holding Samuel Mogwasi Mainga, a JSS teacher, to complete investigations into identity theft and impersonation concerning President Ruto's daughter, June Ruto.
Mogwasi is alleged to have posted content on a Facebook account purporting to be June Ruto on March 20 and April 8, 2025.
The DCI detective informed the court that the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in Mombasa County and flown to Nairobi to facilitate the ongoing investigations related to the Facebook account. "The respondent (Mogwasi) was arrested on April 9, 2025, in Mombasa County on allegations of identity theft and impersonation, contrary to Section 29 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act No. 5 of 2018," Officer Mwangi told the court.
