President William Ruto's UDA party is facing a revolt at the Coast with a section of leaders threatening to defect over alleged sham grassroots elections.

Nyali MP Mohamed Ali, Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana, and former Tana River Governor Hussein Dado have said they will walk out of the party if the elections aimed at picking new leadership are not repeated.

Speaking separately, Ali and Mungatana said the grassroots polls were interfered with by UDA officials from the national office.

In Tana River, Mungatana claimed that the party's registration was altered at the last minute to add new members with instructions to vote them out.
